VOLUNTEER POSITIONS
We have a variety of volunteer positions available at the Ride for Tiny Town; there is something for everyone! To get more detailed information about each available task, please see below. For more information on tasks please email Patty Walker at ridefortinytown9@gmail.com or call 941-807-3950.
EVENT CREW, SETUP and REGISTRATION - Suitable for volunteers 18+ - Standing required (morning and afternoon shifts available)
Friday: 8:00am - 3:00pm
Saturday: 6:00am - 3:00pm
Work under the direction of volunteer leader for Site set up of table and chairs, hanging Banners, help with Vendors and prepare Registration table for arrival of cyclists. Help with Check in for cyclists, and help with packet pickup. Volunteers will assist with clean up and packing of registration supplies upon the closing of the event for the day.
FOOD SERVICE & CLEAN UP CREW - Suitable for all volunteers - Standing required (morning and afternoon available)
Saturday: 6:00am - 2:00pm
Volunteers will assist with set up of food & drink stations under the food Pavilion at Mosaic Arena. Food will be served to cyclists after they have finished riding for the day. Clean up of food items, tables, and other supplies will take place at the end of the day. Shifts will be assigned (morning & afternoon). Please be sure to work for the duration of the shift you have been assigned.
ROUTE MARSHALS - Suitable for volunteers 18+ - Standing required
Saturday: Shift time determined by intersection assignment - will fall between 8:00am - 12:30pm (18 positions available)
Volunteers will be assigned in pairs to monitor a specific intersection along the Ride for Tiny Town route, to assist with guiding cyclists in the correct direction and to alert them of upcoming traffic signals/intersections. NOT required to interact with vehicular traffic at time. Volunteers only responsibility is to communicate with cyclists to assist them with proceeding safely and in the correct direction.
Oak Hill REST STOP - Suitable for all volunteers - Standing required
Saturday: 7:30am - 12:30 pm - Arcadia, FL (4 positions available)
Work under the direction of volunteer leader to set up and prepare rest stop for arrival of cyclists. Site set up, preparation of snacks and beverages, and safety crews will be assigned by lead volunteer upon arrival. Volunteers will assist with clean up and packing of rest stop supplies upon the closing of the rest stop for the day.
Owen School REST STOP - Suitable for all volunteers - Standing required
Saturday: 7:30am - 12:30pm - Arcadia, FL (4 positions available)
Work under the direction of volunteer leader to set up and prepare rest stop for arrival of cyclists. Joshua Citrus REST STOP - Suitable for all volunteers - Standing required
Saturday: 7:30am - 12:30pm - Arcadia, FL (4 positions available)
Work under the direction of volunteer leader to set up and prepare rest stop for arrival of cyclists. Site set up, preparation of snacks and beverages, and safety crews will be assigned by lead volunteer upon arrival. Volunteers will assist with clean up and packing of rest stop supplies upon the closing of the rest stop for the day.
FINISH LINE SET UP & CHEERING - Suitable for all volunteers (groups encouraged)
Saturday: 7:30am - 12:30am
Assist staff with early morning set up of the finish line areas prior to the arrival of cyclists for the day. Set up will include finish line chute, balloon columns, information station tents & tables, and roping off restricted areas. All supplies will be provided and on site upon arrival. Cheer for cyclists as they cross the finish line throughout the day.
Volunteers will be instructed about the flow of the finish line and the safety measures that need to be managed in order to ensure the safest finish line conditions for cyclists, volunteers and spectators. Duties will include directing the flow of traffic, manning prohibited entrance areas, management of bike storage areas, etc.
